Tool Introduction
Somatic Symptom Test Scale - Somatic Symptom Self-Assessment Scale (SSS) Free Online Test. SSS is mainly used to screen recent somatic symptoms. Somatic symptoms generally refer to physical symptoms caused by psychological factors, which cannot be detected through medical examinations. For example, some people sometimes feel uncomfortable somewhere in their body, but they go to the hospital for examination and fail to find the corresponding physical disease, indicating that everything is normal. This situation is sometimes a manifestation of somatic reaction. Psychological factors play an important role in the occurrence and development of most diseases. Psychological factors not only have emotional experiences such as sadness, upset, nervousness, fear or overthinking, but also cause various physical discomfort symptoms in multiple systems such as cardiovascular, digestive, nervous, respiratory, and urinary systems. For example, when you experience unpleasant emotions, you will feel chest tightness or panic; when you feel anxious, you will have stomach pain, bloating or indigestion; when you feel stressed at work, you will have headaches or pain in other parts of your body; when you feel worried, you will have many dreams, wake up easily or even insomnia. These are all somatic symptoms of psychological factors.
Note: Somatic symptoms can be caused by psychological factors or organic physical diseases. Therefore, if your body has already felt the discomfort caused by somatic symptoms, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for specific medical examinations to rule out whether it is caused by organic diseases. Since the scale is only an auxiliary screening tool, the scale test results are for reference only.
